Türkenkrieg 2 - Heinrichsen 40mm Flats
Finished a few more figures. Bulked up the officer's hat a bit with green stuff. Still on the smallish side but improved. Painted in acrylics as usual.
Thanks very much, Simon. I'm a big fan of Prinz Eugen and his Austrians, but I've actually found painting the Ottomans to be equally enjoyable. Have to put more thought into color choices but the variety helps keep tedium in check.
Thanks, Brian. A well-respected American painter & collector once remarked to me that flats represent "the world's cheapest fine art".
I'm biased of course, but I think there's more than a little truth to that. The thing that strikes me about these old 19th Century figures is that the designers and engravers lavished such care on toys destined to be covered by sloppy paint.
They are all very nice, but the robe on the top guy, is fabulous. Looks like silk!
ReplyDeleteCheers, Simon

Superb animation in these sculpts and greatly enhanced by the quality of the painting.
